Thomas Fuller’s Pisgah-Sight of Palestine (1650) is one of the earliest printed works in English language with ‘Palestine’ in the title. It is also considered the “first” biblical geography, attempting to match biblical descriptions of place with records from exi. Mount Pisgah is the site at which Moses supposedly looked upon the promised land that he was not permitted to enter. In similar fashion, Fuller never visited Palestine, never experienced the place or geography he wrote about.
